businesses and organizations in the community, the camp has
thrived and continues to grow. Our goals are simple:

Meet several Kansas City
T-Bones players and mascot 'Sizzle'
|
 |
To help kids
learn and play baseball
|
 |
Allow them to
spend time with similar peers
|
 |
Encounter adult
role models who are also deaf or hard of hearing
|
 |
Have access to
communication support, such as interpreters, as needed
|
 |
Meet and be
instructed by sports legends |
 |
Lacrosse has been added to our Sports Camp this year. See below for details. |

The Sertoma Fantasy Sports
Camp is a
camp for speech and deaf or hard of hearing children, ages 8 to
14. The camp allows these very special children the opportunity
to interact with each other while learning the All American
sport of baseball.
The Johnson County Sertoma club funds the cost of the camp, including
interpreters, supplies, snacks, drinks and equipment. In
addition, members of our club voluntarily organize it, run it
and assist in coaching and mentoring the children. We also
develop individual and corporate sponsors who provide lunches,
other goods and services.
The Kansas City T-Bones baseball club provides support for the
camp. Several players and the club mascot, Sizzle, visit the camp to the
delight of the campers.

Youth Lacrosse Camp
The Johnson County Sertoma Fantasy Sports Camp is happy to include a youth lacrosse camp for 2008. Lacrosse, the fastest
game on two feet, is a Native American game that has become the fastest growing team sport in the US and Canada. Camp attendees will be introduced to the game by
Rockhurst High School Lacrosse Coaches and high school All-Americans in a non-contact, fun-filled, teaching/learning environment. The attendees will learn the
fundamentals of the game including ground balls, catching, and shooting. All campers will be provided with a stick (unfortunately, they must be returned) balls
and a reversible jersey.
Attendees will receive instruction from State Champion Coaches and players and will get to play mini games where their skill set will be put to use.
Again, this is a non-contact camp and safety is of utmost concern. Tennis balls will be used to get the attendees acquainted and may be used throughout.
For more information please contact Coach Mark Bayhylle at
mbayhylle@rockhursths.edu. For more information on the game check out www.uslacrosse.org.
